A 16-year-old was shot at Betty Fairfax High School in Laveen near 59th Avenue and Baseline outside of a high school football game.

Phoenix police are reporting a shooting and suicide near 35th Avenue and Baseline Road in south Phoenix. A Phoenix police SWAT team forced its way into a house in the neighborhood after seeing the injured woman through a window.

Inside they found a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He later died.

In late July, representative Gabrielle Giffords was told the identities of the six people killed by Jared Loughner in the January shooting spree. The dead included Gifford’s aide Gabe Zimmerman and her close friend Judge John Roll.
