Arizona Irish Cultural Center’s Bloomsday Beerfest

Published by Administrator under Phoenix Events

The Arizona Irish Cultural Center is hosting the first Phoenix Bloomsday, a celebration honoring James Joyce, one of the most influential authors of the previous century.

The name “Bloomsday” derives from Leopold Bloom, the protagonist of James Joyce’s novel, Ulysses. June 16th was the day in 1904 on which the events in Ulysses were set. In the novel, Bloom travels around Dublin meeting many fascinating characters while making full use of the city’s pubs. Bloomsday is celebrated in Ireland and throughout the world by Irish people and Joyce fans alike.

Beer will be provided by Sonoran Brewing Co., Oak Creek Brewing Co., Rock Bottom Breweries, Copper Canyon Grill & Brew Pub and other members of the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild. Readings from Ulysses will be performed throughout the evening. Irish music performed by Oceans Apart.

Beer Fest Admission: $25 presale, or, $35 at the gate. Presale tickets available May 24 — June 14 at: azbrewguild.com. Price includes 16 drink and food tickets and a souvenir glass. Additional beer and food tickets can be purchased on site for $1 each.
*Beer tasting admission sales limited to 750 persons.
