Phoenix Police Prepare for Occupy Phoenix

Phoenix police are preparing for hundreds or even thousands of people to descend on Cesar Chavez Plaza in downtown Phoenix on Saturday as part of the Occupy Wall Street protests that are beginning to spread to cities across the nation.

Organizers say Saturday’s protest will be non-violent.


Johnathan Doody’s Confession Tossed in Buddhist Temple Killings

Johnathan Doody, who was convicted of the 1991 Buddhist Temple massacre, had his confession thrown out earlier year. The Supreme Court today refused to overturn that decision and Doody may now be released from prison.


A Cab Driver and Passenger Beat a Man to Death in Parking Lot

Around 5:15 on Saturday afternoon, after a nearly hitting a Kia Sportage in a parking lot, a Yellow cab driver and his passenger beat a passenger of the Kia to death.

Avondale police say the cab driver, 45-year-old Gary Mayo, and his passenger, Shawn King, beat 57-year-old James Fournier to death after a traffic dispute.

This happened in a parking lot adjacent to a Sam’s Club in broad daylight.
