Two men jumping tandem at the Mesquite airport, near the Arizona-Nevada border, were killed when their main chute didn’t properly deploy and became tangled with their reserve chute. 60-year-old James Fonnesbeck and 75-year-old Claudette Porter were both killed.

Four Killed on I-10

Four people were killed on Interstate-10 Thursday morning after a commercial vehicle driver lost control, ran through the median into oncoming traffic and hit a SUV that then caught fire. Both the commercial vehicle driver and three occupants of the SUV were killed. The westbound 10 was closed until approximately 2pm Thursday.

APS Restoring Power After Massive Power Outage in California and Arizona

Man Leads Authorities on High Speed Chase Near Eloy

25-year-old Juan Sausedo-Perez lead led Border Patrol agents and Pinal County deputies on a high speed car chase Thursday after a Pinal Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop Sausedo-Perez for a traffic violation. He eventually stopped the car and hid under a tree.

Brewer Calls Obama Deportation Policy a “Backdoor Amnesty”

Governor Jan Brewer stated that the Obama adminstration “got it really wrong” with their new immigration policy of moving low-priority deportation cases, those of illegal immigrant US military veterans and spouses, and young people brought to the US as children, out of the deportation process. The administration would use those freed resources to focus on illegal immigrants with criminal convictions.

Brewer also called the new policy a backdoor amnesty.

Susanne Eman of Casa Grande wants to be the fattest woman in the history of the world

Meet Susanne Eman. A Casa Grande woman who would like to be the fattest woman in the world.

Currently weighing in at 728 pounds, Eman is consuming 20,000 calories a day to reach her goal of 1,610 pounds.

To put that in perspective, the fattest man alive today, Manuel Uribe of Monterrey, Mexico, reached a peak weight of 1,320 pounds – 300 pounds less than Eman’s goal.

Following a series of embarrassingly backward laws recently enacted in Arizona, Texas governor Rick Perry pledged Wednesday to do everything in his power to reestablish his state as the most regressive in the nation. “I commend Arizona for its commitment to exceedingly draconian social policies, but [Arizona Governor] Jan Brewer should know that we still have some real doozies up our sleeve,” said Perry, referring to Arizona’s passage of the strictest immigration law in recent U.S. history, as well as its measures allowing concealed weapons to be carried without a permit and banning ethnic studies programs in public schools. “Don’t forget, we just put an ultraconservative stamp on our educational curriculum that’s going to affect the textbooks the whole country uses, and I’m still the only governor nutso enough to float secession. Observers said that even prior to the initial deaths, a number of isolated incidents seemed to indicate that the night was headed for disaster. When Diamondbacks reliever Blaine Boyer was spotted in the bullpen wildly convulsing in a writhing knot of rattlesnakes, the stadium grew quiet, save for a steady undercurrent of rattling.

Videotape of the event later showed thousands of fans toppling over and clutching their chests as the snakes’ neurotoxic venom caused massive respiratory malfunctions and heart failure. Jared Lee Loughner was released from custody this afternoon when it was determined that the suspect—accused of a shooting spree that left six dead and 14 injured, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords—had not technically broken any Arizona state laws. “While Loughner is clearly a deranged madman who, with this heinous, tragic act, has proved to be a danger to himself and others, he has not explicitly violated any statutes currently on the books in Arizona,” Pima County Attorney Barbara LaWall said of the man whom witnesses saw murdering a 9-year-old girl and a federal judge. “We can only hope that if he acts out again, another Arizona citizen will be legally carrying a concealed firearm and be able to stop him.”
