Phoenix police and firefighters saved the life of a 68-year-old woman after she collapsed at Sky Harbor on Thursday. Using CPR and a defibrillator, they were able to restore her pulse and breathing. She was then transported to the hospital.

The next day, a woman was placed in a police holding cell where she expired. She was detained for being belligerent. Apparently she went on to ‘medical distress’ after approximately 20 minutes of detention.

On Brain Eating Bacteria and Influenza Alerts

14-year-old Aaron Evans died of Naegleria fowleri last week. Naegleria fowleria is microscopic organism. It usually attacks the brain through the nasal cavity and then travels to the brain.

Just received an email from a reader about outbreak alerts. Although as far as I know there’s no real-time alert resource for Naegleria fowleri, there are other resources detailing outbreak alerts. Healthmap uses Google maps to illustrate disease outbreaks for the last 30 days including afflictions such as E. coli and influenza. There’s a link following the diagram.

Near Central and Southern. Azcentral says the pedestrian was killed in a parking lot. I think we’re missing a detail or two here.

Phoenix police have a suspect in custody, involved in a deadly hit and run accident.

A pedestrian was killed in a parking lot near Central and Southern Avenues early Thursday morning.

The suspect originally drove away from the scene, but was found a few blocks away near Third Street and Southern.

Police say the suspect was driving all over the street and with the passenger door open shortly before he was taken into custody.
