About 30 people flooded into a Mesa Circle K convenience store late Friday night and stole alcohol and food, police said.
Police received a call from a store clerk about 11:30 p.m. who suspected that a large group of people in the parking lot of the store in the 1100 block of West Eighth Street were getting ready to fight.Within seconds, the group entered the store and stole 10 to 15 thirty-packs of beer, chips, and other items, according to a police report.
The group fled before police arrived. Other cases of group shoplifting have occurred in the past few weeks.
Federal investigators want to speak with a Phoenix girlfriend of ex-NBA referee Tim Donaghy in connection to his illegal gambling, the New York Post has reported.
Donaghy, who is married with four daughters, has a girlfriend from Phoenix who owns a sports bar and has two children, the newspaper reported.The newspaper identified her as Cheryl Wolfe-Ruiz, 41.
In addition, the Post reported, citing court records, that in early January, Donaghy, 40, traveled to Phoenix for a game, and also to receive money from his pal, Thomas Martino, for providing inside information about another game that was used for gambling purposes.
