Mesa police are investigating the death of a Hispanic man found wrapped in a blanket Friday afternoon, officials said.

A woman driving past the area of 82nd Street and University Drive noticed around 12:43 p.m. the apparently dead body near or on the roadway, Mesa police spokeswoman Holly Hosac said.

No other details were available. The investigation is ongoing.

About 30 people flooded into a Mesa Circle K convenience store late Friday night and stole alcohol and food, police said.

Police received a call from a store clerk about 11:30 p.m. who suspected that a large group of people in the parking lot of the store in the 1100 block of West Eighth Street were getting ready to fight.

Within seconds, the group entered the store and stole 10 to 15 thirty-packs of beer, chips, and other items, according to a police report.

The group fled before police arrived. Other cases of group shoplifting have occurred in the past few weeks.
