Party turns deadly in South Phoenix
One person was killed and four injured when a house party became violent. Bystanders outside the house say a man approached the residence, near Southern and 16th St, and began shooting.
Five people were shot, including 37-year-old Armando Sagarnaga, who died at the scene. Police said the others did not have life-threatening injuries.
Police said there were several family members, including children, at the house when the shooting occurred.
Officers arrived quickly and pulled over a brown pickup that was leaving the scene. Witnesses identified the driver, 31-year-old Juan Cortez, as the gunman.
Police said they found a gun clip on Cortez but didn’t find a gun.
