A man suspected of robbing a Scottsdale bank was arrested Thursday morning, but only after he nearly did authorities the favor of trying to escape into the police headquarters parking lot.

Nobody was hurt in the 10 a.m. incident at the Bank of America at 3123 N. Scottsdale Rd., or during the unidentified suspect’s arrest five minutes later at 87th Street and Indian School Road, police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark said.
Glendale police said Thursday they have arrested a man who is a “person of interest” in a Thanksgiving Day murder.
The suspect, Manuel Corella, 29, also was wanted for numerous armed robberies and carjackings in Glendale, said Officer Jackie Cole, a Glendale police spokeswoman.
Corella was taken into custody Wednesday following a standoff that forced a lockdown at Glenn F. Burton Elementary School, 4801 W. Maryland Ave, Cole said.
