2-year-old died in a Mesa irrigation canal Monday afternoon
A 2-year-old girl has died after she was found floating in an irrigation canal here, authorities said.
Isabella Olson was playing with a 2-year-old boy Monday afternoon in the backyard of a home when a family member noticed the children missing and the back gate ajar, said Mesa Fire spokesman deputy chief Mike Dunn.
The family member searched along the canal and minutes later found the children in the water about a quarter of a mile south of the home.
Authorities said the boy was conscious when paramedics took him in an ambulance to Banner Desert Medical Center and was listed in critical condition. His name was not immediately released.
