What’s Going on this Weekend I - Estrella War!
The Estrella War has begun!
The Estrella War is a Society for Creative Anachronism event at Estrella Mountain Regional Park near Goodyear.
The Society for Creative Anachronism has members all over the world who re-create the life, culture, and societies from the Medieval Times of Europe (or the Middle Ages). approximately 800-1500 AD.
The Estrella War is a gathering or members of the SCA for a half-week series of events including mock battles, art exhibits, various tournaments and more.
One of the largest events associated with SCA, the Estrella War will bring more than 6,000 attendees and participants to the Mountain Preserve. Many of those attending will be camping there for the entire week although people will also be driving in for day visits.
Although this event and others hosted by the Society for Creative Anachronism may sound like Renaissance faires there is an important distinction. Everyone attending the Estrella War will at least make an attempt at period costume and/or behavior - which means that there should be less of a feeling of spectactator and spectacle than there may be at a regular Renaissance faire.
Entrance fees are as follows:
