Honey Bear's won the Phoenix New Times 'Best in Phoenix' 10 years in a row.
They serve chicken, pork, beef bbq sandwiches with a side of barbecue sauce for around $5. Other menu items at Honey Bear's include BBQ chicken wings, fried catish, baby back ribs, and BBQ rib tips. Sides include cornbread, cowbro beans, french fries, cole slaw, potato salad, side salads, garden salads, corn, and chips.
Honey Bear's is right in the middle of uptown Phoenix on Central - just South of Thomas St - so lunchtime on a weekday may not be the best time to eat there if you're in a hurry. They seem to be pretty slow (but steady) on the weekends. There's another location on South 16th St near Van Buren.
